Hot Summer Days

For the past several days the temperature has been in the 90's and the humidity level is about 80%. It's hot!!

And when it's this hot you don't feel like doing anything.  This got me thinking.  What in the world did I do on hot summer days before my daughter was born?  I had my first child about 13 weeks ago and realized that this was my first summer off in about 10 years. usually summer is just the weekend with a few Fridays off but not this year. This year I have been able to enjoy everyday of summer. I haven't set my alarm clock and today I didn't shower until 4:00 p.m. I don't have air conditioning which is a problem on days like this but I don't mind. It's a great excuse to lay around all day doing nothing.

I love the fact that my daughter is sleeping in her crib right now totally relaxed. I have a fan blowing on her and she is only wearing a diaper. She looks like an angel. Because we spent so much time in the bedroom today I noticed things I never saw before. She loves to suck on her fingers and she is really starting to notice things moving around. She doesn't like it when the T goes by and blows it's horn. She starts to cry at very loud noises.

I've realized that these are the moments that will remain with me forever. On a day like this where I had nothing to do I used to go outside and lay in the sun for hours. I would bring a book, an ipod, water, snacks, and a journal. But now that she's in my life I know I can give up those things and spend them inside with her.

So, what's your favorite way to spend time on a hot humid day?
